TOPIC: The Dozen Hats of Leadership

Note: Sack lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to vicki.morris@iowa.gov by March 5, 2012 to assure lunch orders can be finalized. 

Reminder: 

  1. If Central Iowa member and paid Central Iowa ASIS Chapter dues of $120, lunch and webinar is free. 
  2. If ASIS International member and paid International ASIS dues of $150 but not Central Iowa Chapter dues cost will be $15. 
  3. If not a member of Central Iowa or International ASIS cost will be $25.

In his current position, Mr. Widup is responsible for developing, implementing and sustaining various initiatives/programs to protect the company's brands; conducting investigations regarding brand integrity related incidents (counterfeiting, product tampering, product diversion and fraud), as well as liaising with law enforcement and regulatory officials.

He has over 36 years of law enforcement and security experience. He served in the US Army, spending the majority of his time as a Special Agent with the US Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID). At the time of his retirement in 1994, he immediately went to work as a Special Agent with the Office of Criminal Investigations for the Food and Drug Administration. While with the FDA/OCI he managed the duties and responsibilities of the Forensic Support Branch, conducted polygraph examinations and investigations involving violations of the Federal Criminal Code and the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and also served as the OCI representative on the Permanent Forum on International Pharmaceutical Crime. Mr. Widup left government service in 2001 and joined the Pfizer Global Security team in New York where he last served as Director of Security for the Americas Region. In this position he was responsible for oversight and management of all security related matters in the Western Hemisphere for Pfizer Inc.

Steve Gardiner
Senior Director, Management and Organizational Development
Purdue Pharma

Mr. Gardiner joined Purdue Pharma, a Stamford based pharmaceutical firm, in 2001. His principle responsibility has been the introduction of the Leading for Success programs for every level of the organization. In addition, he has designed and delivered workshops in the following areas: strategy development, leadership, performance management, team development, problem solving/decision making, conflict resolution, collaborative skills, change management, internal customer service, supervisory skills, meeting leadership, managing multiple priorities, and innovation / creativity.

When not conducting management education sessions, he particularly enjoys working with leadership teams to formulate business strategies, implement organizational change and enhance team effectiveness. For two years, he chaired the Leadership Forum at Silver Bay, the country's longest running leadership conference. He has been a frequent presenter at Work In America Institute's conferences and annual meetings. He is putting the final touches on a five year effort of authoring his first book, "Global Fuzzies: Confessions of a Third Generation Management Trainer".
